About Jo

Jo Croft is the founder of the Puppy Coach book and online training package, and Dogs Logic where she offers her canine behaviour consultancy sessions. Career

Jo Croft qualifications

Jo qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1994 and worked in practice up until 2005, by which time she had worked as head nurse at two large practices and achieved her surgical diploma.

Jo’s work supporting pets and owners dealing with pet pain, disability and trauma spurred her on to take a keen interest in dog behaviour, where the importance of reading and understanding canine communication was essential to providing the best level of care as a nurse. It also helped Jo to educate owners to manage both the physical and psychological welfare of their pet during the recovery process, after seeing that a loving and stable home provided the ultimate rehabilitation for animals in her care.

These insights led Jo to set up a variety of behaviour groups in practice covering all areas of canine development, from puppy socialisation classes to serious aggression and anxiety cases.

Jo moved exclusively into pet behaviour in 2005 when she set up her first company, Animal Nanny, giving her the opportunity to work with and observe dogs more closely. Jo spent the following 7 years running Animal Nanny as a successful pet walking and boarding business whilst working alongside other animal behaviour professionals, completing courses with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Training and Behaviour (CiDBT) and achieving her membership of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association and the Guild of Dog Trainers.

Alongside this, Jo became actively involved in canine hydrotherapy, bringing together her behaviour and anatomical canine knowledge; she actively set up and ran the Animal Rehabilitation Centre for a fellow professional and is proud to have helped mentally and physically rehabilitate many injured and post-surgical cases.
